The Congressional Hunger Center (CHC) is a nonprofit anti-hunger training organization founded by former Rep. Tony Hall and located in Washington, D.C. Members of Congress, Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (R-MO) and Rep. James P. McGovern (D-MA) are the co-chairs of our Board of Directors and exemplify our bipartisan approach to ending hunger.
   
  The Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellows Program is a year-long leadership development program that trains emerging leaders in the fight against hunger in the U.S. The Bill Emerson Fellows are a living tribute to the late Rep. Bill Emerson, who devoted his energies to assisting the poor.
   
  The Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellows Program sends talented U.S. citizens to work alongside hungry people in the world’s poorest countries. The program is a memorial to the late Rep. Mickey Leland who led the fight against hunger in the U.S. Congress, and lost his life in Ethiopia on a famine relief mission.

National Anti- Hunger Organizations (NAHO) Celebrate World Food Day on October 17, 2008

As part of the 2008 World Food Day celebration, NAHO released the 2008 Blueprint to End Hunger. The Blueprint sets a goal of cutting U.S. food insecurity in half by 2015 and outlines a comprehensive plan of action to ensure every American is adequately nourished.

The Congressional Hunger Center and the nation’s leading anti-hunger groups are calling upon President Bush, presidential candidates, Congress, elected officials, faith based groups, the private sector and the general public to work together to strengthen current federal nutrition programs and policies. As outlined in the 2008 Blueprint, Americans have the ability and the means to end hunger.

The Congressional Hunger Center and the nation’s leading anti-hunger groups are calling upon President Bush, presidential candidates, Congress, elected officials, faith based groups, the private sector and the general public to work together to strengthen current federal nutrition programs and policies. As outlined in the 2008 Blueprint, Americans have the ability and the means to end hunger.

The Congressional Hunger Center (CHC) proudly announces that Edward M. Cooney, CHC Executive Director, has been awarded the 2008 Gene White Lifetime Achievement Award for Child Nutrition by the School Nutrition Association (SNA). Mr. Cooney will receive this award at the 5th annual A Possible Dream Gala to be held on March 4, 2008 in Washington, D.C. The award honors national level leaders who advocate for improved childhood nutrition, and past recipients include Senators Bob Dole and George McGovern, Dr. Josephine Martin, and Ms. Catherine Bertini of the World Food Program. The award’s namesake, Gene White, is an extraordinary woman who continues to dedicate her life to children and the benefits of good nutrition. The Congressional Hunger Center and Victory Wholesale Group are Pleased to Announce the 2007 Victory Against Hunger Award Winners

Washington, DC - For the 15th consecutive year, Victory Wholesale Group of Springboro, Ohio and Boca Raton, Florida, and the Washington, D.C. based Congressional Hunger Center (CHC) have teamed up to recognize anti-hunger organizations, food banks and HIV/AIDS clinics that have worked effectively to promote food as medicine in their communities. Every member of Congress was given the opportunity to nominate organizations in their own community or state to receive one of the $1,000 prizes that are underwritten by Victory Wholesale Group. The Congressional Hunger Center received 45 nominations and made 22 awards. Congressional Hunger Center and Victory Wholesale Group Offer $1,000 Checks to Twenty (20) Hunger-Fighting Organizations in the U.S.

Washington, DC - February 25, 2007 - The Congressional Hunger Center (CHC) and Victory Wholesale Group of Springboro, Ohio, and Boca Raton, Florida, are announcing the 2007 Fifteenth Anniversary "Victory Against Hunger Awards" (VAH Awards). The awards are twenty $1,000 grants to be presented to anti-hunger organizations, food banks, community food security, and organizations providing nutrition assistance and nutrition services to people with HIV/AIDS and other life threatening illnesses. National Anti-Hunger Organization's Statement On the 2007 Farm Bill Reauthorization
