The staff, board, and fellows of the Congressional Hunger Center (CHC) stand in solidarity with the people of Haiti who have been ravaged by the recent earthquake that has destroyed much of the country’s infrastructure and taken so many lives.
CHC has relationships with several organizations in Haiti, including Partners in Health and the Children’s Nutrition Program of Haiti (CNP). Ashley Aakesson, alumna of the CHC Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellows program, is currently the Executive Director of CNP, and was in Haiti visiting their country operations when the earthquake struck the country. CNP operates in Leogane, a city of 50,000 located almost at the epicenter of the earthquake, and CNP is one of the few non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating there. Please visit their website at http://cnphaiti.org/ to learn more and to make a donation to their work.
There are many other excellent NGOs working on the ground in Haiti. To learn more about their work, visit the InterAction website at http://www.interaction.org/crisis-list/earthquake-haiti
